New Hampshire uses shootout to best New England, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as New Hampshire defeated New England in a shootout 4-3 (1-0 SO).

The two teams needed six turns to complete the shootout.

New Hampshire saw a three-goal lead disappear, but was able to secure the win in a shootout. New Hampshire made the score 3-0 on a goal by Josh Crane at 18:50 in the second period. New England evened things up at 3-3 on a goal by Steve Crocker at 14:13 in the third period.

New Hampshire was helped by Alex Peddle, who had one goal. Peddle scored 4:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 New Hampshire. Tim Casey provided the assist. New Hampshire also got points from Mike Heffernan, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for New Hampshire were David Fish, who had one.

New England put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow New Hampshire to score on any of its four power plays.

New England was helped by Ryan Gauvin, who finished with one goal. Gauvin scored 4:56 into the third period to make the score 3-2 New Hampshire. Henrik Nilsson assisted on the tally. Jake Latham also scored for New England. In addition, New England received assists from Steve Upton and Cam Webster, who contributed one each.

Claes Endre rejected 23 shots on goal for New Hampshire. New Hampshire incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Dalton Doire recorded 22 saves for New England. New England incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
