Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Wilkes-Barre defeated Syracuse in a shootout 5-4 (1-0 SO).

Wilkes-Barre overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Wilkes-Barre fell behind 2-0 after a power play goal by Syracuse's Jean-Philippe Picard at 12:40 in the first period. Wilkes-Barre tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Alexandre Gauthier at 11:32 in the third period.

Wilkes-Barre was led by Daniel Leisser, who racked up one goal and one assist. Leisser scored 12:55 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Syracuse. Arturs Bush provided the assist.

Syracuse was unable to stop Wilkes-Barre from sending pucks towards the net, and Wilkes-Barre eventually piled up 50 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Wilkes-Barre included Jonathan Wisten and Austin Bandura, who scored one goal each. In addition, Wilkes-Barre received assists from Brendon Walch, Lewis Hackling, Michael Tugo, and Derek Bureau, who contributed one each.

Syracuse forced Wilkes-Barre goalie Nolan Bivolcic to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

Syracuse also got a goal from Joey Dupuis as well. More assists for Syracuse came via Xavier Perron, who had two and Valters Midegs and Raymond Falso, who each chipped in one.

Bivolcic recorded 30 saves for Wilkes-Barre. Wilkes-Barre incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Syracuse's Ludvig Kullen Dansarie stopped 45 shots out of the 49 that he faced. Syracuse incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
