GAME RECAP

East Coast falls apart in second, loses to New Hampshire, 5-0

Laconia Ice Arena    Sun, Nov 16, 2014

New Hampshire scored three goals in the second period to pull away from East Coast and clinch a 5-0 win.

Tim Casey had two goals and two assists to lead New Hampshire. Casey scored the first of his two goals at 11:51 into the second period to make the score 2-0 New Hampshire. Casey's next tally made the score 3-0 New Hampshire with 2:17 left in the second period. A tripping call on Brett Bittner put New Hampshire on the penalty kill.

New Hampshire's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 12.0 minutes per game New Hampshire had been spending in the box. New Hampshire put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow East Coast to score on any of its five power plays. East Coast was unable to stop New Hampshire from sending pucks towards the net, and New Hampshire eventually piled up 66 shots on goal.

Others who scored for New Hampshire included Ryan Dunfield, Simon Campbell, and Nick Pino, who each put in one. More assists for New Hampshire came via Andrew Gass and Mike Callaghan, who contributed one each.

East Coast excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. East Coast found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 13 shots against New Hampshire's defense.

Charlie Smart recorded 13 saves for New Hampshire. East Coast's Aidan Critchlow stopped 61 shots out of the 66 that he faced. East Coast incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
