Jersey Shore Wildcats erases deficit to stun Syracuse Stampede, 5-4

Undaunted by a three-goal deficit, Jersey Shore Wildcats battled back to claim a 5-4 victory over Syracuse Stampede.

Jersey Shore Wildcats let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a three hole to pick up the win. Jersey Shore Wildcats took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Frederic Ampleman at 6:26 in the first period. Jersey Shore Wildcats went down 4-1 after Syracuse Stampede's Raymond Falso put the puck home on the power play at 5:53 in the third period. After evening things up at 4-4 on a power play goal by Adam Skutchan at 15:45 in the third, Jersey Shore Wildcats got the game-winner from Antoine Gagne at 18:04 in the third period.

Jersey Shore Wildcats got the win behind a great game by Kevin Gruber, who had two goals and one assist. Gruber scored the first of his two goals at 8:08 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Syracuse Stampede. Tim OConnor provided the assist. Gruber's next tally made the score 4-3 Syracuse Stampede with 4:56 left in the third period. Jersey Shore Wildcats had gotten the advantage when Syracuse Stampede's Xavier Perron was sent off for head contact. Martin Zahora picked up the assist.

Jersey Shore Wildcats kept Syracuse Stampede's goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Andersen made 29 saves on 34 shots. Jersey Shore Wildcats was hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time.

Jersey Shore Wildcats additionally got points from Skutchan, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Jersey Shore Wildcats came via Ilya Spektor, Konstatin Mamedov, Alexandre Racicot, Arthur Raevsky, and Austin Crane, who each chipped in one.

Syracuse Stampede was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. Syracuse Stampede had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. Jersey Shore Wildcats was unable to stop Syracuse Stampede from sending pucks towards the net, and Syracuse Stampede eventually piled up 32 shots on goal.

Syracuse Stampede also got points from Erik Smith, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Perron, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Syracuse Stampede received assists from Joey Dupuis and Tyler Wicks, who contributed one each.

Marc Schlaeger made 28 saves for Jersey Shore Wildcats on 32 shots. Jersey Shore Wildcats registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. Syracuse Stampede registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
