New Hampshire Fighting Spirit downs Cape Cod Islanders in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

New Hampshire Fighting Spirit pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over Cape Cod Islanders on a clutch goal by Travis Blinkhorn.

New Hampshire Fighting Spirit was led by Blinkhorn, who racked up two goals and one assist. Blinkhorn scored the first of his two goals at 1:45 into the third period to make the score 2-1 New Hampshire Fighting Spirit. Blinkhorn's next tally made the score 3-2 New Hampshire Fighting Spirit with 20:00 left in.

New Hampshire Fighting Spirit stifled Cape Cod Islanders' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Mike Heffernan also scored for New Hampshire Fighting Spirit. More assists for New Hampshire Fighting Spirit came via Andrew Gass, who had one.

Cape Cod Islanders put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow New Hampshire Fighting Spirit to score on any of its three power plays. Cape Cod Islanders forced New Hampshire Fighting Spirit goalie Adam Higdon to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Cape Cod Islanders was helped by Charles Antoine Malenfant, who finished with one goal. Malenfant scored 1:57 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Cape Cod Islanders. Colton Hart picked up the assist. Cape Cod Islanders also got a goal from JC Moritz as well. In addition, Cape Cod Islanders received assists from Jordy Knoren, Brandon Robert, and Vasiliy Mironov, who each chipped in one.

Adam Higdon made 31 saves for New Hampshire Fighting Spirit on 33 shots. New Hampshire Fighting Spirit incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Patrick Spaulding recorded 24 saves for Cape Cod Islanders. Cape Cod Islanders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
