The Naval Academy Midshipmen tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Vermont University of Catamounts held on for a 3-2 victory.

Vermont University of made the score 3-0 on a goal by Erin McDonald at 2:09 in the third period, and Naval Academy got as close as 3-2 when Emily Buzzard scored 13:11 into the third period.

McDonald had a great game for the Catamounts, netting two goals.

Vermont University of also got a goal from Katherine Kreis as well. Other players who recorded assists for Vermont University of were Carly Tashman, who had two and Jennifer Deso and Bethany Kelly, who each chipped in one.

The Midshipmen were helped by Monica Hernandez, who tallied one goal. Hernandez scored 10:19 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Vermont University of. Allyson Strachan picked up the assist. In addition, Naval Academy received assists from Jane Wissmann, who had one.

Vermont University of's Audrey Currier stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Catamounts incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Sarah Hutchinson made 26 saves for Naval Academy on 29 shots. The Midshipmen incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
