Friedman nets hat trick, leads Northeastern University to 9-2 win over Naval Academy

Suzanne Friedman netted a hat trick to lead the Northeastern University Huskies over the Naval Academy Midshipmen, 9-2.

Friedman got on the scoresheet 2:35 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:53 into the second and at 4:35 into the second.

Northeastern University led by only one goal at the end of the first period, but put the game away by scoring seven goals in the second.

The Huskies' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Naval Academy power plays. Naval Academy was unable to stop Northeastern University from sending pucks towards the net, and the Huskies eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Northeastern University surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Huskies average 2.1 goals per game.

Northeastern University also got points from Suzanne Kent, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, Michelle Macchione, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Kelsey Hickey, who also had two goals and one assist. Sarah Deslandes also scored for Northeastern University. In addition, Northeastern University received assists from Ally Healy, who had one, Katherine Walsh, who had two, and Katherine So, who had three.

The Midshipmen's offense rang up 32 shots on Northeastern University's net.

Naval Academy was led by Allyson Strachan, who finished with one goal. Strachan scored 14:20 into the second period to make the score 6-1 Northeastern University. Danielle Mcknight provided the assist. Naval Academy also got a goal from Cara Pastrana as well. More assists for Naval Academy came via Susan Wissmann, who had one.

Kimberly Pfeifle made 30 saves for the Huskies on 32 shots. Northeastern University incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Sarah Hutchinson rejected 29 shots on goal for the Midshipmen. Naval Academy incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
