Northeastern University survives Naval Academy comeback, wins 3-1McMullen Ice Center Sat, Nov 15, 2014 The Naval Academy Midshipmen tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Northeastern University Huskies would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-1. Northeastern University made the score 3-0 on a goal by Kelsey Hickey at 8:26 in the third period, and Naval Academy got as close as 3-1 when Cara Pastrana scored 12:06 into the third period. The Huskies' Kimberly Pfeifle was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. Pfeifle certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 3.53 entering the contest. Northeastern University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Midshipmen to score on any of their three power plays. The Huskies forced Naval Academy goalie Sarah Hutchinson to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots. Northeastern University was led by Michelle Macchione, who racked up one goal and two assists. Macchione scored 17:12 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Northeastern University. Hickey assisted on the tally. Northeastern University also got points from Hickey, who also had one goal and one assist. Northeastern University also got a goal from Ally Healy as well. In addition, Northeastern University received assists from Sarah Deslandes and Suzanne Kent, who each chipped in one. Other players who recorded assists for Naval Academy were Allyson Strachan, who had one. The Huskies incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Hutchinson rejected 37 shots on goal for the Midshipmen. Naval Academy incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
