Traverse City Hounds downs Alpena Flyers in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Greg Meuser gave Traverse City Hounds a 5-4 (OT) victory over Alpena Flyers when he scored 2:34 into the extra period.

Traverse City Hounds nearly gave up a three-score lead. Traverse City Hounds made it 3-0 on a goal by Grant McCormack at 4:51 in the second period. Alpena Flyers pulled to within 3-2 on a goal by Brett Farley at 42 seconds in the third period.

Traverse City Hounds got the win on the strength of a great game by Austin Flores, who had two goals and two assists. Flores scored the first of his two goals at 46 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Traverse City Hounds. Howard Rose assisted on the tally. Flores' next tally made the score 4-3 Traverse City Hounds with 9:39 left in the third period. Rose provided the assist.

Alpena Flyers was unable to stop Traverse City Hounds from sending pucks towards the net, and Traverse City Hounds eventually piled up 47 shots on goal.

Traverse City Hounds additionally got points from Rose, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Traverse City Hounds received assists from Kevin Hansen, who had two and Scott Luca, Kyle Winkelman, and Cam Fisher, who contributed one each.

Alpena Flyers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Traverse City Hounds power plays. Alpena Flyers forced Traverse City Hounds goalie Justin Abdelhak to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

Alpena Flyers was led by Cole Cosbitt, who tallied one goal and one assist. Cosbitt scored 12:03 into the third period to make the score 4-4. Sam Charboneau picked up the assist. Others who scored for Alpena Flyers included Garret Bailey and Reed Hamp, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Alpena Flyers were Mitchell Kazmierczak, who had two and Brandon Bihn and Mitchell Skiba, who each chipped in one.

Abdelhak recorded 29 saves for Traverse City Hounds. Traverse City Hounds incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Connor Kassuba rejected 42 shots on goal for Alpena Flyers. Alpena Flyers incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
