Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as Decatur Blaze defeated Traverse City Hounds in a shootout 6-5 (3-2 SO). The shootout featured 16 attempts between both teams. Traverse City Hounds got shootout goals from Cam Fisher and Patrick Rogowski. Decatur Blaze also got shootout goals from Dylan Farmer and Ryan Redpath.Decatur Blaze overcame a four-goal deficit to capture the victory. Decatur Blaze fell behind 5-1 after a goal by Traverse City Hounds' Fisher at 9:07 in the second period. Decatur Blaze tied things up at 5-5 on a power play goal by Micah Young at 15:16 in the third period. Young had a great game for Decatur Blaze, netting two goals. Decatur Blaze kept Traverse City Hounds' goalie busy throughout the game, and Justin Abdelhak made 37 saves on 43 shots. Decatur Blaze found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Decatur Blaze averages 3.1 goals per game. Decatur Blaze also got a goal from Duncan Irvine as well. In addition, Decatur Blaze received assists from Garret Maged, who had two, John Urmetz, who had three, and Brandon Adler, Farmer, Curtis Schlereth, and Shane Johnson, who each chipped in one. Traverse City Hounds racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 12 minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. Traverse City Hounds had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. Decatur Blaze was unable to stop Traverse City Hounds from sending pucks towards the net, and Traverse City Hounds eventually piled up 37 shots on goal.
