Bihn nets hat trick, leads Alpena Flyers to 4-3 win over MC Monarchs

MC Monarchs could not stop Alpena Flyers' Brandon Bihn, who tallied a hat trick in a 4-3 win.

Bihn's first goal came 9:24 into the first period. He then added goals at 16:42 into the first and at 5:44 into the third.

Alpena Flyers racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 12 minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. Alpena Flyers surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game.

Alpena Flyers also got points from James Stacey, who also racked up one goal and two assists. In addition, Alpena Flyers received assists from Kyle Stevens, who had one and Tait Froggett, who had three.

MC Monarchs was often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game MC Monarchs had been spending in the box. MC Monarchs could not produce up to its normal offensive output. MC Monarchs averages 5.1 goals per game. MC Monarchs kept Alpena Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett LeTourneau made 43 saves on 46 shots.

MC Monarchs was led by Anthony Wojciechowski, who tallied two goals. Wojciechowski scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 MC Monarchs. MC Monarchs had taken the advantage when Alpena Flyers' Mitchell Skiba got sent off for roughing. Bryce Peplinski picked up the assist. Wojciechowski's next tally on the power play made the score 3-3 with 1:24 left in the second period. A head contact penalty on Froggett had put MC Monarchs on the power play. Peplinski assisted on the tally. MC Monarchs also got a goal from Joseph Gibbs as well. Other players who recorded assists for MC Monarchs were Jarrad Vroman, who had two.

Alpena Flyers registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Collin Fritch took the loss and made 12 saves before being replaced by Tyler Skulley who made four saves. MC Monarchs registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. MC Monarchs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Adam Jonak was ejected from the game.
