Decatur Blaze falls to Alpena Flyers in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

Alpena Flyers pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over Decatur Blaze on a clutch goal by Jared Kwiatkowski.

Garret Bailey had one goal and two assists to lead Alpena Flyers. Bailey scored on the power play 19:33 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alpena Flyers. Alpena Flyers had taken the advantage when Decatur Blaze's John Urmetz got sent off for interference. James Stacey picked up the assist.

Alpena Flyers forced Decatur Blaze goalie Brandon Macak to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Reed Hamp also scored for Alpena Flyers. More assists for Alpena Flyers came via Kyle Stevens, Alexander Guzman, and Sam Charboneau, who contributed one each.

Alpena Flyers was unable to stop Decatur Blaze from sending pucks towards the net, and Decatur Blaze eventually piled up 53 shots on goal.

Decatur Blaze was helped by Joey Fowler, who finished with one goal. Fowler scored 17:03 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Duncan Irvine assisted on the tally. Decatur Blaze also got a goal from Brock Oyler as well. In addition, Decatur Blaze received assists from Justus Kree, Dylan Farmer, and Shane Johnson, who each chipped in one.

Alpena Flyers' Hunter Myers stopped 51 shots out of the 53 that he faced. Alpena Flyers totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Brandon Macak made 32 saves for Decatur Blaze on 35 shots. Decatur Blaze totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play.
