Wojciechowski's hat trick boosts MC Monarchs over Soo Firehawks, 7-2Big Bear Ice Arena Sun, Dec 21, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
Anthony Wojciechowski lifted MC Monarchs to a 7-2 victory with a hat trick against Soo Firehawks. Wojciechowski notched his first tally 6:06 into the second period. He then added goals at 15:23 into the second and at 18:05 into the third.Soo Firehawks trailed by one after the first period, but MC Monarchs went into the second intermission with a 5-1 lead and never looked back. MC Monarchs forced Soo Firehawks' goalies to work all game long, getting 52 shots and forcing 45 saves. Cody Call made 28 stops and Mackenzie Bruce made 17. MC Monarchs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Soo Firehawks to score on any of its three power plays. MC Monarchs also got points from Bryce Peplinski, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Trevor Pode, who also had one goal and one assist, Joseph Gibbs, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Adam Jonak, who also grabbed one goal and three assists. More assists for MC Monarchs came via Matthew Snyder, Alex Anderson, and Jarrad Vroman, who each chipped in one. Soo Firehawks racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 22.0 minutes per game Soo Firehawks had been spending in the box. Soo Firehawks forced MC Monarchs goalie Tyler Skulley to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. MC Monarchs' Skulley stopped 29 shots out of the 31 that he faced. MC Monarchs totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 3-for-7 on the power play. Soo Firehawks ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Zachary Lee was ejected from the game.
