MC Monarchs survives Soo Firehawks comeback, wins 7-5

Soo Firehawks tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but MC Monarchs held on for a 7-5 victory.

MC Monarchs took a 7-4 lead during the third period, only to have Soo Firehawks storm back on a Cody Therrian goal 16:47 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

MC Monarchs kept Soo Firehawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mackenzie Bruce made 33 saves on 40 shots.

MC Monarchs was helped by Adam Jonak, who registered three goals and one assist. MC Monarchs additionally got points from Trevor Pode, who also finished with one goal and three assists. MC Monarchs also got a goal from Anthony Wojciechowski as well. Other players who recorded assists for MC Monarchs were Tory Shand, who had two and Bryce Peplinski, Matthew Snyder, and Jarrad Vroman, who contributed one each.

Soo Firehawks outdid its season average for goals scored. Soo Firehawks averages 2.6 goals per game.

Soo Firehawks was led by Cody Anderson, who had two goals and one assist. Anderson scored the first of his two goals at 8:08 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Matthew Majic assisted on the tally. Anderson's next tally made the score 2-2 with 15:45 left in the second period. Anthony Laaksonen provided the assist. Soo Firehawks also got points from Patrick Sweeney, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Therrian, who also registered one goal and one assist. Quinton Myotte also scored for Soo Firehawks. In addition, Soo Firehawks received assists from Zachary Leigh, who had one.

Collin Fritch made 19 saves for MC Monarchs on 24 shots. MC Monarchs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Soo Firehawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
