Alpena Flyers downs Soo Firehawks, 5-2

Tait Froggett had one point to lead Alpena Flyers to a 5-2 victory over Soo Firehawks.

Alpena Flyers was led by Froggett, who registered one goal. Froggett scored on the power play 17:59 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Alpena Flyers. A tripping penalty on Matthew Majic had put Alpena Flyers on the power play. Mitchell Skiba picked up the assist.

Alpena Flyers additionally got points from Jared Kwiatkowski, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Brett Farley, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Alpena Flyers included Brett Heise and Shane Dawson, who each put in one. Soo Firehawks got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Soo Firehawks had taken the advantage when Alpena Flyers' Skiba got sent off for tripping. Laaksonen's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Alpena Flyers with 14:43 left in the third period. Soo Firehawks had gotten the advantage when Alpena Flyers' Dawson was sent off for cross checking. Majic provided the assist.

Hunter Myers recorded 21 saves for Alpena Flyers. Alpena Flyers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Nicolas Berlingieri made 22 saves for Soo Firehawks on 27 shots. Soo Firehawks incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
