MC Monarchs beats Michigan Ice Dogs 7-2 as Jonak gets hat trick

Michigan Ice Dogs could not stop MC Monarchs' Adam Jonak, who tallied a hat trick in a 7-2 win.

Jonak got on the scoresheet 5:12 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:27 into the first and at 5:55 into the third.

MC Monarchs' penalty kill excelled, as MC Monarchs gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

MC Monarchs kept Michigan Ice Dogs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Christopher Boyd made 31 saves on 38 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

MC Monarchs additionally got points from Anthony Wojciechowski, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Others who scored for MC Monarchs included Colton James, Alex Anderson, and Jarrad Vroman, who scored one goal each. More assists for MC Monarchs came via Joseph Gibbs, who had three, Alec Domin and Derrick Treppa, who each chipped in one, and Bryce Peplinski and Tory Shand, who contributed two each.

Michigan Ice Dogs was led by Marc Rotondo, who registered one goal. Rotondo scored 4:51 into the third period to make the score 3-1 MC Monarchs. Ryan McNulty provided the assist. Michigan Ice Dogs also got a goal from Brent Young as well. In addition, Michigan Ice Dogs received assists from Tyler Tamer, Dallas Fritz, and Kyle Cuthrell, who each chipped in one.

Marquise Almeida took the win and made 18 saves before being replaced by Tyler Skulley who made nine saves. MC Monarchs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Michigan Ice Dogs incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
