Detroit Fighting Irish survived a determined comeback attempt by MC Monarchs on the way to a 6-5 win. Detroit Fighting Irish made the score 6-2 on a goal by Shawn Eastman at 7:52 in the third period, and MC Monarchs got as close as 6-5 when Jarrad Vroman scored 11:55 into the third period. Detroit Fighting Irish could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. Detroit Fighting Irish was helped by Ken Winter, who finished with three goals and one assist. Detroit Fighting Irish also got points from Robert Danyo, who also registered one goal and two assists and James Smith, who also grabbed one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Detroit Fighting Irish came via Aaron Robinson and Christian Ramage, who each chipped in one. MC Monarchs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Detroit Fighting Irish power plays. MC Monarchs kept Detroit Fighting Irish's goalie busy throughout the game, and Jacob Gorzelski made 35 saves on 40 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. MC Monarchs additionally got points from Adam Jonak, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Bryce Peplinski also scored for MC Monarchs. Other players who recorded assists for MC Monarchs were Anthony Wojciechowski, who had one and Tory Shand, who had two. Detroit Fighting Irish ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Michael Perry was ejected from the game. MC Monarchs took out Tyler Skulley after he had made 17 saves and installed Marquise Almeida in goal, where he finished with six saves and the loss. MC Monarchs incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
