Detroit Fighting Irish rolls over Michigan Ice Dogs, 6-2

Detroit Fighting Irish had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over Michigan Ice Dogs.

Chase Tackett had one goal and two assists to lead Detroit Fighting Irish. Tackett scored 15:52 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Detroit Fighting Irish. Eric Long picked up the assist.

Michigan Ice Dogs was unable to stop Detroit Fighting Irish from sending pucks towards the net, and Detroit Fighting Irish eventually piled up 53 shots on goal.

Detroit Fighting Irish also got a goal from Ken Winter as well. More assists for Detroit Fighting Irish came via James Smith, who had one and Austin McKibbin and Shawn Mott, who each chipped in two.

Michigan Ice Dogs was helped by Marc Rotondo, who registered two goals. Rotondo scored the first of his two goals at 6:53 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Michigan Ice Dogs. Joseph Russo provided the assist. Rotondo's next tally made the score 6-2 Detroit Fighting Irish with 2:24 left in the third period. Michigan Ice Dogs had gained a power play chance when Smith was whistled for roughing. Gordon Sparks picked up the assist.

George Hill recorded 27 saves for Detroit Fighting Irish. Detroit Fighting Irish incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Christopher Boyd made 47 saves for Michigan Ice Dogs on 53 shots. Michigan Ice Dogs totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. For Michigan Ice Dogs, Brent Young was ejected from the game.
