Detroit Fighting Irish came close to giving away a three-goal lead to Soo Firehawks, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory. Detroit Fighting Irish led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Detroit Fighting Irish's Eric Long scored at 18:01 in the second period to put Detroit Fighting Irish up 4-1. Detroit Fighting Irish's penalty kill excelled, as Detroit Fighting Irish gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays. Detroit Fighting Irish's offense rang up 48 shots on Soo Firehawks' net. Detroit Fighting Irish was led by Chuck Hicks, who registered two goals.
