Decatur Blaze outlasts Soo Firehawks, 4-2Big Bear Ice Arena Sun, Nov 09, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, Decatur Blaze escaped with a 4-2 victory over Soo Firehawks. Decatur Blaze gained the winning advantage on a goal by Christian Garcia 14:24 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Decatur Blaze was led by Garcia, who tallied one goal. The defensemen of Decatur Blaze were also effective in Soo Firehawks' zone, and came away with two goals. Decatur Blaze additionally got points from Micah Young, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Decatur Blaze also had goals scored by Luka Znidarsic and Richard Mischak, who scored one goal each. In addition, Decatur Blaze received assists from John Urmetz, Duncan Irvine, and Nathan Zoellner, who contributed one each. More assists for Soo Firehawks came via Daniel Bachynsky, who had one. Matthew Hatcher recorded 21 saves for Decatur Blaze. Decatur Blaze ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. Soo Firehawks' Justus Mancuso stopped 18 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Soo Firehawks totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
