Traverse City Hounds beats MC Monarchs 5-4 after comeback scare

MC Monarchs tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but Traverse City Hounds held on for a 5-4 victory.

A goal by Kyle Winkelman put Traverse City Hounds up 5-3 in the third period, but MC Monarchs pulled to within one on Jarrad Vroman's tally 11:54 into the third period.

Traverse City Hounds also got points from Cam Fisher, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Kevin Cole also scored for Traverse City Hounds. In addition, Traverse City Hounds received assists from Caleb Breithaupt, Austin Flores, and Cam Givens, who contributed two each.

MC Monarchs forced Traverse City Hounds goalie David Krejcik to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. MC Monarchs' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

MC Monarchs additionally got points from Trevor Pode, who also finished with one goal and one assist. MC Monarchs also had goals scored by Bryce Peplinski and Alec Domin, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for MC Monarchs were Anthony Wojciechowski, who had two and Corey Finnemore and Adam Jonak, who each chipped in one.

Krejcik rejected 29 shots on goal for Traverse City Hounds. Traverse City Hounds incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. MC Monarchs' Tyler Skulley stopped 20 shots out of the 25 that he faced. MC Monarchs incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
