Detroit Fighting Irish climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat Alpena Flyers, 6-5. Detroit Fighting Irish let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a three hole to pick up the win. Detroit Fighting Irish took a 1-0 advantage on a goal by Ken Winter at 14:13 in the first period. Detroit Fighting Irish went down 4-1 after Alpena Flyers' Jared Kwiatkowski put the puck home at 4:13 in the second period. After evening things up at 5-5 on a short handed goal by Winter at 6:04 in the third, Detroit Fighting Irish got the game-winner from Chuck Hicks at 15:25 in the third period. Detroit Fighting Irish got the win on the strength of a great game by Winter, who had four goals and one assist. Detroit Fighting Irish kept Alpena Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett LeTourneau made 43 saves on 49 shots. Detroit Fighting Irish additionally got points from James Smith, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Detroit Fighting Irish came via Austin McKibbin, Aaron Robinson, Robert Danyo, Christian Ramage, and Austin Stefan, who contributed one each. Alpena Flyers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
