Traverse City Hounds rolls over Alpena Flyers, 6-2

Traverse City Hounds had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over Alpena Flyers.

Cam Givens was all over the ice for Traverse City Hounds, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Givens scored the first of his two goals at 6:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Traverse City Hounds. Jan Voves provided the assist. Givens' next tally made the score 5-2 Traverse City Hounds with 6:21 left in the third period. Patrick Rogowski assisted on the tally.

Alpena Flyers' power play was ineffective against Traverse City Hounds' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Traverse City Hounds kept Alpena Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brett LeTourneau made 35 saves on 41 shots.

Traverse City Hounds also got points from Austin Flores, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Traverse City Hounds also had goals scored by Kevin Cole, Greg Meuser, and Cam Fisher, who each put in one. In addition, Traverse City Hounds received assists from Stan Swiderek, who had one and Jacob Gillis, who had three.

Alpena Flyers was held below its usual level of production. Alpena Flyers averages 4.2 goals per game.

Alpena Flyers was helped by Shane Dawson, who tallied one goal. Dawson scored on the power play 35 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brandon Bihn picked up the assist. Alpena Flyers also got a goal from Mitchell Skiba as well. More assists for Alpena Flyers came via Brett Farley, who had one.

Justin Abdelhak recorded 26 saves for Traverse City Hounds. Traverse City Hounds incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Alpena Flyers incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
