Traverse City Hounds penalty kill dominates in 5-2 defeat of Michigan Ice Dogs

Traverse City Hounds' penalty kill was superb, as Traverse City Hounds survived multiple penalties to beat Michigan Ice Dogs, 5-2.

Traverse City Hounds was led by Patrick Rogowski, who had one goal and one assist. Rogowski scored 7:22 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Traverse City Hounds. Austin Flores assisted on the tally.

Traverse City Hounds forced Michigan Ice Dogs goalie Christopher Boyd to work between the pipes, taking 58 shots.

Traverse City Hounds additionally got points from Flores, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Jacob Gillis, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, and Cam Givens, who also registered one goal and one assist. Traverse City Hounds also got a goal from Kevin Hansen as well. In addition, Traverse City Hounds received assists from Clayton Dowlan and Grant McCormick, who contributed one each.

Michigan Ice Dogs kept Traverse City Hounds' goalie busy throughout the game, and David Krecjik made 31 saves on 33 shots.

Michigan Ice Dogs was helped by Cory Markovich, who finished with one goal. Markovich scored on the power play 18:04 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Traverse City Hounds. A tripping penalty on Rogowski had put Michigan Ice Dogs on the power play. Dallas Fritz picked up the assist. Ryan McNulty also scored for Michigan Ice Dogs. Other players who recorded assists for Michigan Ice Dogs were Hunter Oatman, who had one.

Traverse City Hounds totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Boyd rejected 53 shots on goal for Michigan Ice Dogs. Michigan Ice Dogs totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play.
