Detroit Fighting Irish rips Alpena Flyers, 7-2

Detroit Fighting Irish had a four-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-2 win over Alpena Flyers.

Detroit Fighting Irish's penalty kill excelled, as Detroit Fighting Irish gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Detroit Fighting Irish stifled Alpena Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Detroit Fighting Irish's offense rang up 47 shots on Alpena Flyers' net.

Detroit Fighting Irish was led by Chuck Hicks, who grabbed two goals. Hicks scored the first of his two goals at 4:28 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Detroit Fighting Irish. James Smith provided the assist. Hicks' next tally made the score 7-2 Detroit Fighting Irish with 8:41 left in the third period. Jacob Hayes assisted on the tally. Alpena Flyers was helped by Shane Dawson, who racked up one goal. Dawson scored 1:34 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Detroit Fighting Irish. Brett Farley picked up the assist. Alpena Flyers additionally got points from Farley, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Alpena Flyers came via Garret Bailey, who had one.
