Young's big game bests Berkley Bruins in 7-3 Decatur Blaze win

Decatur Blaze's Micah Young had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 7-3 win over Berkley Bruins.

Young's tallies came at 16:46 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Decatur Blaze and short handed 8:54 into the third to make the score 5-3 Decatur Blaze.

Berkley Bruins was unable to stop Decatur Blaze from sending pucks towards the net, and Decatur Blaze eventually piled up 42 shots on goal.

Decatur Blaze also got points from Luka Znidarsic, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Curtis Schlereth, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Decatur Blaze included Matthaeus Wanninger, Brandon Adler, and Duncan Irvine, who each put in one. In addition, Decatur Blaze received assists from John Urmetz, who had two and Ty Gehrken and Joey Fowler, who contributed one each.

Berkley Bruins stifled Decatur Blaze's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Berkley Bruins forced Decatur Blaze goalie Paul Stomper to work between the pipes, taking 40 shots.

Berkley Bruins was helped by Tory Shand, who had one goal. Shand scored on the power play 41 seconds into the third period to make the score 4-3 Decatur Blaze. Evan Wilson provided the assist. Berkley Bruins also had goals scored by Julian Willibey and Colton James, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Berkley Bruins were Timothy Muhsman and Alex Anderson, who each chipped in one.

Paul Stomper made 37 saves for Decatur Blaze on 40 shots. Decatur Blaze totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-6 on the power play. Jacob Gorzelski rejected 35 shots on goal for Berkley Bruins. Berkley Bruins totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.
