Berkley Bruins holds on for 6-5 win against Alpena Flyers

Alpena Flyers tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but Berkley Bruins held on for a 6-5 victory.

A goal by Julian Willibey put Berkley Bruins up 6-4 in the third period, but Alpena Flyers pulled to within one on Tait Froggett's tally 14:17 into the third period.

Berkley Bruins got the win on the strength of a great game by Timothy Wilson, who had two goals and one assist. Wilson scored the first of his two goals at 14:24 into the first period to make the score 3-2 Alpena Flyers. Tory Shand assisted on the tally. Wilson's next tally made the score 5-4 Berkley Bruins with 13:15 left in the third period. Alex Anderson picked up the assist.

Berkley Bruins forced Alpena Flyers' netminders to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 36 shots and forcing 30 saves. Connor Kassuba made six stops and Brett LeTourneau made 24. Berkley Bruins excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Berkley Bruins surpassed its usual scoring output this season. Berkley Bruins averages 3.1 goals per game.

Berkley Bruins additionally got points from Shand, who also racked up one goal and two assists and Anderson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Timothy Muhsman also scored for Berkley Bruins. More assists for Berkley Bruins came via Dalton Gertsen, who had two, Evan Wilson, who had four, and Alexander Arredondo and Logan Wilt, who each chipped in one.

Alpena Flyers forced Berkley Bruins' goaltenders to work between the pipes, racking up 40 shots and forcing 35 saves. Brent Gaddy made 32 stops and Jacob Gorzelski made three.

Alpena Flyers also got points from Garret Bailey, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Alpena Flyers also got a goal from Sam Charboneau as well. In addition, Alpena Flyers received assists from Tommy Hrynkiw, who had one.
