MC Monarchs and Soo Firehawks were evenly matched throughout their contest, but MC Monarchs made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Bryce Peplinski at 9:12 of the third period.

MC Monarchs got the win thanks to a great game by Adam Jonak, who had one goal and three assists. Jonak scored 1:24 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Joseph Gibbs provided the assist.

MC Monarchs pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

MC Monarchs could not produce up to its normal offensive output. MC Monarchs averages 6.2 goals per game. MC Monarchs' offense rang up 40 shots on Soo Firehawks' net.

MC Monarchs also got points from Trevor Pode, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Gibbs, who also had one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for MC Monarchs were Matthew Snyder, who had two.

Soo Firehawks put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow MC Monarchs to score on any of its six power plays. Soo Firehawks kept MC Monarchs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Tyler Skulley made 29 saves on 31 shots.

Soo Firehawks was helped by Quinton Myotte, who finished with one goal. Myotte scored 5:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Soo Firehawks. Noah Anderson picked up the assist. Soo Firehawks also got a goal from Cody Anderson as well. More assists for Soo Firehawks came via Matthew Majic, who had one.

Soo Firehawks' Michael Pelland stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Soo Firehawks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
