MC Monarchs erases deficit to stun Soo Firehawks, 7-5Fraser Hockeyland Sat, Oct 11, 2014 Story by Narrative Science.
MC Monarchs climbed out of a three-goal hole to beat Soo Firehawks, 7-5. MC Monarchs let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a three hole to pick up the win. MC Monarchs took a 4-3 advantage on a power play goal by Bryce Peplinski at 8:36 in the second period. MC Monarchs went down 3-0 after Soo Firehawks' Cody Therrian put the puck home at 18:32 in the first period. After tying things up at 4-4 on a goal by James Goudreau at 10:58 in the second, MC Monarchs got the game-winner from Joseph Gibbs at 12:18 in the second period. MC Monarchs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Soo Firehawks power plays. MC Monarchs forced Soo Firehawks goalie Justus Mancuso to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. MC Monarchs was helped by Trevor Pode, who tallied three goals and one assist. MC Monarchs additionally got points from Gibbs, who also registered one goal and one assist and Adam Jonak, who also racked up one goal and six assists to lead the team in points. In addition, MC Monarchs received assists from Matthew Snyder and Jarrad Vroman, who contributed one each. Soo Firehawks kept MC Monarchs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Marquise Almeida made 39 saves on 44 shots. Soo Firehawks also got points from Quinton Myotte, who also had one goal and one assist. Cody Anderson also scored for Soo Firehawks. Other players who recorded assists for Soo Firehawks were Matthew Majic, who had two and Daniel Bachynsky and Zach Eitrem, who each chipped in one. MC Monarchs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Mancuso rejected 27 shots on goal for Soo Firehawks. Soo Firehawks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
