Traverse City Hounds rolls over Berkley Bruins, 8-2

Traverse City Hounds had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-2 win over Berkley Bruins.

Cam Givens had two goals and two assists to lead Traverse City Hounds. Givens scored the first of his two goals at 1:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Traverse City Hounds. Cam Fisher assisted on the tally. Givens' next tally made the score 5-1 Traverse City Hounds with 18:19 left in the third period. Fisher provided the assist.

Traverse City Hounds excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Traverse City Hounds' offense rang up 51 shots on Berkley Bruins' net. Traverse City Hounds was often in penalty trouble, as it ended with seven minors and two majors for 24 minutes in penalty time.

Traverse City Hounds also got points from Joshua Hill, who also had one goal and one assist, Kevin Cole, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Patrick Rogowski, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Fisher, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Traverse City Hounds included Jacob Gillis and Greg Meuser, who each put in one. In addition, Traverse City Hounds received assists from Stan Swiderek, who had two and Kevin Hansen, Jan Voves, and Grant McCormick, who contributed one each.

Berkley Bruins forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and three majors for 49 minutes in penalty time. Berkley Bruins had been averaging 36.0 minutes in penalties per game. Berkley Bruins' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Berkley Bruins was led by Timothy Muhsman, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Muhsman scored 6:15 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Traverse City Hounds. Berkley Bruins also got a goal from Cristian Purdom as well.

David Krecjik made 26 saves for Traverse City Hounds on 28 shots. Traverse City Hounds registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Jacob Gorzelski rejected 43 shots on goal for Berkley Bruins. For Berkley Bruins, Seth Bursha was ejected from the game.
