Soo Firehawks beats Michigan Ice Dogs 4-0 as Berlingieri gains shutout

Nicolas Berlingieri was superb between the pipes for Soo Firehawks, as he did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over Michigan Ice Dogs.

Soo Firehawks' penalty kill excelled, as Soo Firehawks gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Soo Firehawks was led by Anthony Laaksonen, who tallied one goal. Laaksonen scored on the power play 15:15 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Soo Firehawks. A slashing penalty on Kyle Cuthrell had put Soo Firehawks on the power play. Cody Anderson picked up the assist.

Soo Firehawks stifled Michigan Ice Dogs' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Soo Firehawks' offense rang up 46 shots on Michigan Ice Dogs' net.

Soo Firehawks also got points from Anderson, who also had one goal and two assists and Dustin Brown, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Soo Firehawks came via Matthew MacLaren and Noah Anderson, who contributed one each.

Michigan Ice Dogs kept Soo Firehawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Berlingieri made 38 saves on 38 shots.

Soo Firehawks totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with 13 minors and one major and went 2-for-5 on the power play. Jacob Mulka made 42 saves for Michigan Ice Dogs on 46 shots. Michigan Ice Dogs incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors.
