Fregona's big game bests Appleby College in 10-0 St. Andrews College win

The St. Andrews College Saints' Justin Fregona had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing five assists in his team's 10-0 win over the Appleby College Blue Dogs.

Fregona found the back of the net 14:28 into the first period to make the score 2-0 St. Andrews College and again while 1:54 into the third to make the score 8-0 St. Andrews College.

St. Andrews College put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Appleby College to score on any of its four power plays. The Saints' offense rang up 59 shots on the Blue Dogs' net. St. Andrews College bested its season scoring average. This season, the Saints average 4.8 goals per contest.

St. Andrews College also got points from JD Falconer, who also had three goals and two assists and Alex MacDonald, who also finished with two goals and one assist. Mitchell Martan also scored for St. Andrews College. In addition, St. Andrews College received assists from Matthew Thom, Jacob Miller, Austin Cho, and Mac Lewis, who contributed two each.

Appleby College did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Blue Dogs average 2.4 goals per game. Appleby College's offense was handcuffed by St. Andrews College's defensive play, and the Blue Dogs managed only 12 shots on goal during the game. Penalties took their toll on Appleby College, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Matthew Galajda rejected 12 shots on goal for the Saints. St. Andrews College incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Blue Dogs' Avery Gobbo stopped 49 shots out of the 59 that he faced. Appleby College incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
