Nichols School erases deficit to stun Ridley College, 5-4H.C. Griffith Complex - Ridley Fri, Dec 12, 2014 Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Nichols School Vikings battled back to claim a 5-4 victory over the Ridley College Tigers. Nichols School let multiple leads slip away before eventually digging out of a two hole to pick up the win. The Vikings took a 2-1 advantage on a goal by Griffin Lunn at 15:57 in the first period. Nichols School found itself down 4-2 after Ridley College's Brendan Lochead put the puck home at 9:39 in the third period. After knotting things up at 4-4 on a goal by Carson Gicewicz at 12:32 in the third, the Vikings got the game-winner from Lunn at 17:52 in the third period. Nichols School got the win thanks to a great game by Lunn, who had two goals and one assist. The Vikings' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Ridley College power plays. Nichols School's offense rang up 39 shots on the Tigers' net. The Vikings were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 18 penalty minutes. Nichols School also got points from Gicewicz, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Nichols School also had goals scored by Harrison Oates and Tom Elia, who each put in one. More assists for Nichols School came via Ross Cominsky, who had two and Zac Herrmann and Nick Passafiume, who contributed one each. Ridley College excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Tigers' normally stingy defense allowed more goals than usual. Ridley College gives up 2.5 goals per game. The Tigers could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 22 minutes in penalties during the game. Ridley College was led by Mat Skripchenko, who had two goals and one assist. Skripchenko scored the first of his two goals at 2:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Ridley College. Will Lochead provided the assist. Skripchenko's next tally made the score 2-2 with 4:14 left in the second period. Brien Jake picked up the assist. Patrick MacDonald also scored for Ridley College. Jerry Baerwitz rejected 19 shots on goal for Nichols School. For the Vikings, Cody Fleckenstein and Cominsky were ejected from the contest. Cam Gray recorded 34 saves for the Tigers.
