St. Michaels College's comeback falls short, Nichols School wins 6-4Dann Memorial Wed, Feb 11, 2015 The Nichols School Vikings came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the St. Michaels College Majors, but did just enough to escape with a 6-4 victory. Nichols School led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Vikings' Ross Cominsky scored at 7:57 in the second period to put Nichols School up 4-1. The Vikings were led by Carson Gicewicz, who tallied one goal. Gicewicz scored 12:00 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Nichols School. Harrison Oates provided the assist. Nichols School put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow St. Michaels College to score on any of its four power plays. The Vikings' offense rang up 33 shots on the Majors' net. Nichols School surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Vikings have scored at the pace of 3.3 goals per game during the current campaign. Nichols School's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. Nichols School also got points from Griffin Lunn, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Nichols School also had goals scored by Will Yerkovich and Sam Jones, who scored one goal each. In addition, Nichols School received assists from Cody Fleckenstein, Sean Martin, and Dylan Seitz, who each chipped in one and Zac Herrmann, Erik Urbank, and Nick Passafiume, who contributed two each. St. Michaels College struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 14 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays. Aaron Fanti made 25 saves for the Vikings on 29 shots. Nichols School incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Majors' Jack Edmands stopped 27 shots out of the 33 that he faced.
