Nichols School blows out Appleby College, 5-2

The Appleby College Blue Dogs had trouble finding ways to stop the Nichols School Vikings, which beat Blue Dogs, 5-2.

Nichols School forced Appleby College goalie Avery Gobbo to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

The Vikings were led by Carson Gicewicz, who had one goal and one assist. Gicewicz scored 6:34 into the first period to make the score 3-0 Nichols School. Ross Cominsky assisted on the tally. Nichols School also got points from Zac Herrmann, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Harrison Oates, who also registered one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Nichols School included Dante Todaro and Connor Schutte, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Nichols School were Cody Fleckenstein, Will Yerkovich, and Anthony Scanzuso, who contributed one each.

The Blue Dogs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 18 minutes in penalties during the game.

Appleby College was helped by Morgan MacDonald, who tallied one goal. MacDonald scored on the power play 12:06 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Nichols School. The Blue Dogs had gained a power play chance when Herrmann was whistled for slashing. Bailey Newton picked up the assist. Appleby College also got a goal from Andrew Tarasca as well. In addition, Appleby College received assists from Michael Rubin, who had one.

Jerry Baerwitz rejected 17 shots on goal for Nichols School. The Vikings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Appleby College's Gobbo stopped 28 shots out of the 32 that he faced. The Blue Dogs registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
