Appleby College survives Ridley College comeback, wins 3-2Dann Memorial Sat, Feb 07, 2015 The Ridley College Tigers tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Appleby College Blue Dogs would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. Appleby College made the score 3-1 on a goal by Bailey Newton at 7:19 in the third period, and Ridley College got as close as 3-2 when Christian Girhiny scored 8:01 into the third period. The Blue Dogs were led by Newton, who registered one goal and one assist. The defensemen of Appleby College were also effective in the Tigers' zone, and came away with two goals. Appleby College additionally got points from Morgan MacDonald, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Appleby College also got a goal from Evan Patterson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Appleby College were Andrew Tarasca and Jonathan Giordano, who contributed one each. Ridley College forced the Blue Dogs goalie Avery Gobbo to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Charles Levesque also scored for Ridley College. In addition, Ridley College received assists from Mack Berkhout, Connor Hill, and Noah Tooke, who each chipped in one. Gobbo rejected 35 shots on goal for Appleby College. The Blue Dogs incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Tigers' Cam Gray stopped 22 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Ridley College incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
