The Appleby College Blue Dogs and the St. Michaels College Majors skate to 2-2 tieH.C. Griffith Complex - Ridley Fri, Feb 06, 2015 Appleby College and St. Michaels College could not settle their match and fought to a 2-2 tie. The Blue Dogs could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. Appleby College was helped by Morgan MacDonald, who finished with one goal. MacDonald scored 54 seconds into the second period to make the score 1-1. Adam Scholz provided the assist. Appleby College also got points from Andrew Tarasca, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Appleby College received assists from Jonathan Giordano and Ryan McGregor, who contributed one each. The Majors put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Blue Dogs to score on any of their five power plays. St. Michaels College was helped by Zach Warus, who had one goal. Warus scored on the power play 13:29 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Michaels College. A tripping penalty on Evan Patterson had put the Majors on the power play. Michael Byrne picked up the assist. St. Michaels College also got a goal from Duncan Coulson as well. Avery Gobbo rejected 24 shots on goal for Appleby College. St. Michaels College's Spiros Koskinas stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Majors incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
