Davenport University beats Midland University 10-0 as Boydston gets hat trick

Lexie Boydston lifted the Davenport University Panthers to a 10-0 victory with a hat trick against the Midland University Warriors.

Boydston got on the scoresheet 1:17 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:26 into the first and at 4:03 into the third.

Davenport University gained an early advantage, leading 5-0 by the end of the first period.

The Panthers were boosted by Victoria Smishek, who turned in a shutout with 28 saves. Smishek certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.4 entering the contest.

Davenport University put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Midland University to score on any of its three power plays. The Warriors were unable to stop the Panthers from sending pucks towards the net, and Davenport University eventually piled up 52 shots on goal. The Panthers' goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Davenport University averages 2.1 goals per contest.

Davenport University additionally got points from Megan Martin, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Catie OConnor, who also had two goals and one assist, Chantal Caraher, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and Darian Adams, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Davenport University included Laken Kunz and Jennifer Deane, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Davenport University were Halle Hayes, who had two.

The Panthers incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Midland University's Tessa Singleton stopped 42 shots out of the 52 that he faced. The Warriors incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
