Rhode Island University of takes care of Naval Academy early, wins 9-2

The Naval Academy Midshipmen fell behind early, and the Rhode Island University of Rams kept piling on the points on the way to a 9-2 victory.

Rhode Island University of got the win behind a great game by Kristy Kennedy, who had six goals and one assist. Kennedy notched his first tally 7:52 into the first period. He then added goals at 12:33 into the first, at 21 seconds into the second, at 1:05 into the second, at 17:47 into the second, and at 7:04 into the third.

The Rams forced Naval Academy's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 59 shots and forcing 50 saves. Andie Coutoulakis made 12 stops and Sarah Hutchinson made 38. Rhode Island University of put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Midshipmen to score on any of their four power plays.
