Penn State University outlasts Rhode Island University of, 3-2

The Penn State University Nitty Lions gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Rhode Island University of Rams.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Riley OConnor secured the win for Penn State University with a goal in the second period.

The Nitty Lions were led by OConnor, who finished with one goal. OConnor scored 18:37 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Penn State University. Samantha Siciliano picked up the assist.

Penn State University forced Rhode Island University of goalie Kayla DiLorenzo to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Others who scored for Penn State University included Cara Mendelson and Anna Marcus, who scored one goal each. More assists for Penn State University came via Kimberly Badorrek, who had one and Devon Fisk, who had two.

The Rams put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Nitty Lions to score on any of their three power plays. Rhode Island University of kept Penn State University's goalie busy throughout the game, and Mary Kate Tonetti made 34 saves on 36 shots.

The Rams were helped by Janessa Courtney, who tallied one goal and one assist. Courtney scored on the power play 3:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Penn State University. Sydney Collins assisted on the tally. Rhode Island University of additionally got points from Kristen Levesque, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Rhode Island University of received assists from Marykate Stimpson, who had one.
