The Naval Academy Midshipmen could not stop the Penn State University Nitty Lions' Darby Kern, who tallied a hat trick in a 9-0 win.

Kern got on the scoresheet 8:48 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:46 into the second and at 10:54 into the third.

Penn State University scored early and often, and held a 4-0 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.
