Stoney Creek vanquishes Brantford in shootout, 4-3 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Stoney Creek Generals defeated the Brantford Blast in a shootout 4-3 (3-2 SO).The shootout lasted for 10 attempts between the teams. Brantford got shootout goals from Dustin Alcock and Joel Prpic. In addition to the clincher, Stoney Creek got shootout goals from Mike Ruberto and Dylan Gilbert.
The Generals came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Stoney Creek trailed 3-1 after a goal by the Blast's Cam Sault at 1:42 in the second period. The Generals knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Nathan Pageau at 17:26 in the second period.
Stoney Creek's offense rang up 38 shots on Brantford's net.
The Generals were helped by Sean Blanchard, who registered one goal and one assist. Blanchard scored 3:14 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Brantford. Gilbert picked up the assist. Stoney Creek additionally got points from Pageau, who also had one goal and one assist. Matt Smith also scored for Stoney Creek. More assists for Stoney Creek came via Ruberto, who had one.
The Blast were held below their usual level of production. Brantford averages 5.7 goals per game.
