OAKVILLE survives WHITBY comeback, wins 2-1

WHITBY tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but OAKVILLE held on for a 2-1 victory.

A goal by Olivia Atkinson put OAKVILLE up 2-0 in the third period, but WHITBY pulled to within one on Katelyn Rae's tally 14:17 into the third period.

OAKVILLE was paced by Atkinson, who racked up one goal. Atkinson scored 30 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-0 OAKVILLE. Emma Maltais assisted on the tally.

OAKVILLE put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow WHITBY to score on any of its three power plays.

OAKVILLE also got points from Maltais, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, OAKVILLE received assists from Madison Field (A), Jaime Bourbonnais, and Jessica Geddes, who contributed one each.

WHITBY's offense operated below its season average. WHITBY averages 3.6 goals per game.

More assists for WHITBY came via Kirsten Welsh(A) and Caitlyn Quartarone, who each chipped in one.

Daniela Paniccia recorded 18 saves for OAKVILLE. OAKVILLE incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. WHITBY's Rachel McQuigge stopped 20 shots out of the 22 that she faced. WHITBY incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
