BRAMPTON tried its best to erase a two-goal deficit, but OTTAWA would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1. OTTAWA took a 2-0 lead during the third period, only to have BRAMPTON storm back on a Katie McTaggart goal 17:25 into the third period to pull to one goal down. OTTAWA was sparked by Helen Markovic (PU), who racked up one goal. Markovic (PU) scored 6:05 into the third period to make the score 2-0 OTTAWA. Sophie Veronneau assisted on the tally. OTTAWA kept BRAMPTON's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kaitlyn Simpson made 33 saves on 35 shots. OTTAWA also got a goal from Riley Gibson as well. More assists for OTTAWA came via Anonda Hoppner, Melanie Sweet, and Coralie Larose, who contributed one each. BRAMPTON put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow OTTAWA to score on any of its five power plays. OTTAWA's defense shut down BRAMPTON's forwards for much of the game, and BRAMPTON got off only 12 shots during the contest. Other players who recorded assists for BRAMPTON were Meghan Gallagher and Hillary Hettwer (A), who each chipped in one. Tanya Winchcombe recorded 11 saves for OTTAWA. OTTAWA incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. BRAMPTON incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
