CAMBRIDGE and WATERLOO were evenly matched throughout their contest, but CAMBRIDGE made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Rebecca Haddaway (A)'s goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Alyssa Chiarello (A) had a great game for CAMBRIDGE, netting two goals. Chiarello (A) scored at 3:39 into the third period to make the score 3-1 CAMBRIDGE and again while 9:56 into the third to make the score 4-2 CAMBRIDGE. CAMBRIDGE put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow WATERLOO to score on any of its five power plays. CAMBRIDGE's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as CAMBRIDGE finished with 16 penalty minutes. CAMBRIDGE additionally got points from Rachel Holden, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Haddaway (A), who also racked up one goal and one assist. In addition, CAMBRIDGE received assists from Miranda Lantz (A) and Shannon Pearson, who contributed one each and Shelby Wood and Nicole Zabel, who each chipped in two. WATERLOO's offense was handcuffed by CAMBRIDGE's defensive play, and WATERLOO managed only 13 shots on goal during the game. WATERLOO was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 16 penalty minutes. WATERLOO was helped by Kaillie Hardy, who registered one goal. Hardy scored 10:04 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Sarah Rettinger also scored for WATERLOO. More assists for WATERLOO came via Megan Johnston and Tailor Campbell, who contributed one each. Julia Vandyk made 11 saves for CAMBRIDGE on 13 shots. CAMBRIDGE registered one goal on five power play opportunities. Jessica Fariello rejected 20 shots on goal for WATERLOO.
