CAMBRIDGE hangs on, beats WHITBY 1-0

CAMBRIDGE took the lead against WHITBY in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 1-0 victory.

Alyssa Chiarello (A) provided CAMBRIDGE with the game-winning tally when she scored 10:22 into the first period. Shannon Pearson picked up the assist.

Lauren Webber frustrated WHITBY's offense all game, and stopped 25 shots en route to a shutout. Webber managed to improve on her goals against average, which stood at 1.6 prior to the game.

CAMBRIDGE's penalty kill excelled, as CAMBRIDGE gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

CAMBRIDGE stifled WHITBY's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. CAMBRIDGE was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 16 penalty minutes.

In addition, CAMBRIDGE received assists from Morgan Rolph, who had one.

WHITBY could not produce up to its normal offensive output. WHITBY puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game.

CAMBRIDGE registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. WHITBY's Rachel McQuigge stopped 14 shots out of the 15 that she faced. WHITBY incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
