McManus (A) nets hat trick, leads DURHAM WEST to 4-1 win over WATERLOO

Kaitlyn McManus (A) netted a hat trick to lead DURHAM WEST over WATERLOO, 4-1.

McManus (A)'s first goal came 3:09 into the first period. He then added goals at 7:50 into the first and at 13:50 into the second.

DURHAM WEST pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 20 penalty minutes.

DURHAM WEST excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. DURHAM WEST's offense rang up 40 shots on WATERLOO's net.

Alexandra Maw also scored for DURHAM WEST. More assists for DURHAM WEST came via Taylor Hicks, Emily Jukosky, Katrina Manoukarakis, Natalie Wozney, and Kirsten MacDougall, who each chipped in one.

DURHAM WEST's defense shut down WATERLOO's forwards for much of the game, and WATERLOO got off only 10 shots during the contest. WATERLOO found itself short handed often, totaling 18 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays.

WATERLOO was led by Sarah Rettinger, who scored the team's only goal. Rettinger scored 4:28 into the second period to make the score 2-1 DURHAM WEST. Megan Fergusson assisted on the tally.

DURHAM WEST's Rebecca Clark stopped nine shots out of the 10 that she faced. Jessica Fariello rejected 36 shots on goal for WATERLOO.
