The Liberty University Flames and the Grand Valley State University Lakers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Liberty University made the most of its opportunities and won, 3-2.

Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Carrie Jickling's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

The Flames were paced by Jickling, who registered one goal. Jickling scored 11:30 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Liberty University. Madison Fischer assisted on the tally.

Liberty University was held below its usual level of production. The Flames average 5.3 goals per game. Grand Valley State University was unable to stop Liberty University from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flames eventually piled up 38 shots on goal.

Liberty University additionally got points from Amanda Grainger, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Liberty University also got a goal from Clarissa Tipping as well. In addition, Liberty University received assists from Stephanie St Amand and Caroline Innes, who each chipped in one.

The Lakers put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Liberty University to score on any of its three power plays.

Grand Valley State University was led by Kendra Myers, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Myers scored 10:46 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Liberty University. Hilary Daniels picked up the assist. Lauren Iavasile also scored for Grand Valley State University. More assists for Grand Valley State University came via Katie Danto, who had one.

Chantal Lischynski recorded 17 saves for the Flames. Liberty University incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Lauren Allen made 35 saves for the Lakers on 38 shots. Grand Valley State University incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
