The St. Thomas Stars tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Listowel Cyclones would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1. Listowel took a 2-0 lead during the second period, only to have St. Thomas storm back on a Zach Grzelewski goal 13 seconds into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Cyclones were led by Tim Nauta, who finished with one goal and one assist. Nauta scored on the power play 14:28 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Listowel. A head contact penalty on Brett Van Dusen had put Listowel on the power play. Kevin Gergley provided the assist. The Cyclones put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Stars to score on any of their three power plays. St. Thomas' defense shut down Listowel's forwards for much of the game, and the Cyclones got off only 12 shots during the contest. Ben VanOotegham also scored for Listowel. Other players who recorded assists for Listowel were Chad Lemire, who had one. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Carson Brookshaw and Wade Russell, who each chipped in one. Tyler Fassl rejected 17 shots on goal for Listowel. The Cyclones incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors. Nikolas Dampier made 10 saves for the Stars on 12 shots. St. Thomas incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
