Brampton holds on for 4-3 win against St. Marys

The St. Marys Lincolns tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Brampton Bombers held on for a 4-3 victory.

Brampton took a 4-2 lead during the second period, only to have St. Marys storm back on a Mitch Read goal 18:00 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Lucas Goodman had two goals to lead the Bombers to victory. Goodman scored at 5:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brampton and again while 6:20 into the first to make the score 2-0 Brampton.

Brampton stifled the Lincolns' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. St. Marys was unable to stop the Bombers from sending pucks towards the net, and Brampton eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Brampton also got points from Robert Orlando, who also registered one goal and one assist and Brad Bollert, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Brampton came via Kevin Bray, who had three and Beau Goehram, Brandon Stapley, and Jordan Crocker, who each chipped in one.

The Lincolns excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. St. Marys could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Lincolns were led by Nathan Smith, who had one goal and one assist. Smith scored 7:36 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Brampton. Rai Di Loreto also scored for St. Marys. In addition, St. Marys received assists from Jake Alkins, Sean O`Brien, and Graham Brulotte, who contributed one each.

Shane Dietl made 25 saves for the Bombers on 28 shots. Brampton incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. St. Marys' Andrew Masters stopped 36 shots out of the 40 that he faced. The Lincolns registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. For St. Marys, Matt McGall was ejected from the game.
